On May 9, 2012, House Minority Leader Larry Cafero, R-Norwalk, received assurances from House Majority Leader, J. Brendan Sharkey, D-Hamden, that the Democrats would not attempt to sneak in legislation in the implementing session, that follows the regular session of the General Assembly. (Click on above audio to hear Cafero-Sharkey exchange. Cafero is the first speaker.) Well “Implementing Day” has arrived and the Democrats are having a Christmas Party. Sharkey, filling in for CT House Speaker Christopher Donovan, who’s congressional campaign is under federal investigation, has gone back on his word as evidenced by SB 501, which the House will vote on sometime today or early Wednesday morning. And the bill is filled with pork barrel projects for Democrats.
