With the Easter weekend approaching, it’s not uncommon to get newspaper flyers and full page ads, touting the many sales at package stores in Connecticut. Well, now might be a good time to remind you that Massachusetts has better deals, principally because there booze isn’t taxed.
I noticed several Connecticut package stores touting sales of 1.75L Dewar’s White Blend Scotch for $34.99 plus the state tax. Some deal. Last weekend in the Bay State, that same bottle was selling for $31.99 with no tax at one store and $29.99 at another package store. Sunday liquor sales may bring increased business to Connecticut package stores near the state line, but with that price differential, especially if consumers buy in bulk, they may find a trip across the border will still be worth the ride.
