Bond Commission pulls Communist related item

The Connecticut State Bond Commission has pulled an item that would have used taxpayers’ money to underwrite a group that has ties to the Communist Party. The item, originally on the agenda of today’s bond commission meeting, was slated to use $300,000 in taxpayers’ money to pay for exterior improvements to a building that houses the New Haven People’s Center. The group’s website proclaims the center to be home to the Connecticut Bureau of People’s
World, a Communist Party newspaper. The group also has ties to other organizations associated with left wing groups. The item was pulled from the agenda, as the story made its way onto several blogs.
